How to get there

When to visit

Summer for puffins, milder weather and open cafés; winter for moody light and fewer visitors. Beach waves are dangerous year-round — keep your distance.

Vík has a small but good range of hotels and guesthouses, plus a campsite. Book early in summer. Kirkjubæjarklaustur is the nearest alternative 30 minutes west.
