In Iceland, wind matters more than temperature. Above roughly 15 m/s (about 55 km/h) driving a high-sided vehicle becomes difficult and car doors get ripped from your hand; above 20 m/s roads are often closed. Rain plus wind at 3°C feels far colder than a dry −5°C day, so plan clothing around wind chill, not the thermometer.
