How to get there
Drive from Akureyri in about 1 hour, or from Reykjavik in 5–6 hours. It is a natural stop on the Ring Road between Akureyri and Egilsstaðir.
How long to stay
One or two nights. One night lets you see the lake and baths; two nights add Dettifoss and the highland roads around Askja if conditions allow.
When to visit
Summer for access to all roads and the midnight sun. Winter is beautiful but some highland side roads close; the Nature Baths stay open.
